I am building a 1000W HF inverter.
I want it to be able to drive induction motors also up to 1000W.
How much over current is generally allowed in induction motor drives? And for how long?
8x rated for say 2 seconds? (looks like a big value)
If 7 to 10x is allowed for induction motors, then how much threshold should be allowed to detect a short circuit.
In general, how much time and over current flags a short circuit. And how much time and over current is allowed for induction motors?

Or should I program the inverter to clamp the current to say 2x and allow a starting time of 5s instead of allowing a 2s starting time at 8x current?

Please give opinions
Thank you
