inverting amplifier gain less than one

HI,

I would like to know whr would the inverting and non inverting amplifer confing of opamp would be used? im kind of confuse which to choose whn both can give the required gain. Pls advice me.

non invertig op-amp

Cutting story short, there are certain applications where one configuration is more practical than the other ..
For example, if you need a voltage followe/buffer you will automaticaly choose non-invertig configuration ..
The same will be when you need the output voltage to be of the same polarity as the input voltage ..

In the same time you have to be aware of limitations of each configuration ..

For example, unlike the standard inverting amplifier configuration, the non-inverting amplifier configuration using opamps cannot produce a voltage gain less than ONE.
This, however, doesn't make this configuration less useful than the inverting op amp configuration as you can reduce the gain by using a voltage divider at the non-inverting input ..

And so on, and so on ..

IanP
