normal NAND gate and Schmitt trigger NAND

What is the difference between normal NAND gate and Schmitt trigger NAND ?
Does it is interchangeable in an application ?

Hi,
Gates with schmitt trigger input does switch/compare with some hysterese. These do eliminate some uncertain switchings/spikes in noisy environments...
