I'm trying to write a small program that sends data using USART (through rs232).
I don't have any hardware, only using the MPLAB IDE 7.20.
In the lab at the University we have the equipment and we use HyperTerminal to see the output, I was wondering if it could be done with the simulator at home.
Hi,
I just had MPLab open to see if I could remember how to do it, but I do know it can be done. Look under Using the USART in MPSim help. It tells you there how to do it.

Robert
ps, there is a simulated usart in MPSim, just to be clear.
Mplab now has limited support for SCL which is Simultor Control Language. You can write complex testbenches with the language like you can in vhdl to support just about any hardware.
More information and sample code can be found on the Microchip forums.
Attached is a text file with an overview of the language.
