I need a schematic to build a programmer for gal 16v8 and how get started with FPGA?

This is a parallel port programmer that is supposed to be able to program smaller CPLDs.


For somewhat larger CPLDs, they use a JTAG interface. You can find a simple parallel port JTAG programmer for the larger Xilinx CPLDs on the Xilinx web site. For JTAG stuff, these programmers are often sold on Ebay.
