The documentation says 2k code size (whatever the source code size). Does that mean the hex code size that may be loaded?

i think evaluation version is enough for student or you can change your language to assembly ( you can compile any size for asm languge free assemblers are available)

there are few sites they claim they cracked keil compiler i cannot mention here

the original keil version is about 1850$ for limited license it comes upto around Rs92500 appx. we had paid 70K INR around 12 years back...
