Hi friends
Can any one tell me which varactor diode is useful for frequency 6 GHz & 10GHz
I want to design VCO.
Can any one provide names of company & model no. of such varactor.
Thanks

Hey,

To answer your question, I would like to quote from "A Multi-Rate 9.953–12.5-GHz 0.2-m SiGe BiCMOS LC Oscillator Using a Resistor-Tuned Varactor and a Supply Pushing Cancellation Circuit" from A. Maxim published in JSSC:
"Covering a wide 9.953–12.5-GHz frequency range, while ensuring an additional 10% to 15% range to accommodate the process, temperature, and supply variation of the LC oscillator frequency, leads to an oscillator with an ultra-wide tuning range, in which most of the tank capacitance needs to be implemented as varactors [11]–[18]. The lower quality factor of the varactors in comparison with the fixed capacitors leads to a degraded VCO phase noise performance. Furthermore, a large frequency range and a low available control voltage range (limited by the supply voltage and device breakdown voltages) results in a large oscillator gain, which increases both intrinsic device noise and coupled spurious tones up-conversion around the carrier [23],[24]."

And then the paper mentions a different method to implement the varactor. (Well, not a totally new one though). I think the paper is a very nice one to read 10 times. Never gets boring. I learned a lot from it.

It is available on the board.

Cheers

Please post link of paper here.
I am designning VCO on microstrip circuit, there you need to connect varactor diode,RFC etc. for biasing.
I want the information of that Varactor.
I am not using any IC.
Thanks for information
