need information regarding Modbus communication between a PC and a mete over RS485

Hi all!

Recently I have designed a multi function meter which can measure voltage, current, frequency, power, power factor and energy.

Now I want to get all the measure data from meter and I should also be able to configure the meter by using any software running on PC.

I am having RS485 port on my meter and want to connect it to PC through DB9 port.

Can anybody provide the whole idea to do it. Is there any free software tool to do this.
