reconfigurable antenna

i am going to make research in reconfigurable antenna, but i don't know which area of reconfigurable antenna is valuable, can someone give me some advices?

thanks

Added after 11 minutes:

i want to know if there have new research areas on reconfigurable antennas where i can make study on it ,and if there have good methods to analyze reconfigurable antennas?

Re: Reconfigurable antenna

Hi you could look at chapter 8 in the book,

RF MEMS and Their Applications by Vijay K. Varadan K.J. Vinoy K.A. Jose

It is available on the board some where.

I certainly feel that you can look at Antennas for Software defined radios. That is a good research area.

Hi svarun:

what's the "antennas for software defined radios"? can you introduce me some papers on it or you can give me some ideas about it?

thanks a lot!

Re: Reconfigurable antenna

Software defined radio replaces all your current devices which need different bands and equipments for each purpose. Now you have mobile phone, cordless phone, PDA , GPS etc each requiring a different handset and each working in its own band on its own set of protocols. The idea is to replace all these by a single hand unit with software control for selectingthe appropriate frequency and protocol. For this wide band antennas/RF front ends are required as you will be working from say 800 MHz to 2.5 GHZ or even beyond. Reconfigurable antennas can certainly be promising candidates for these wide band applications. There are lot of books in this forum on SDR ( Software Defined Radios ). You can look at them by searching in the E-Books Upload/Download section.
