Need help with programming QY-1604A LCD display

I have a QY-1604A LCD display, made in china, text based LCD display. Do any one of you have one? (I'll post more if I get a reply)

Maybe it's 4 by 16 (4 lines by 16 character). Is it the same with hitachi models?

I have seen some LCD aside from hitachi, they follow the same protocol some how some of the difference are the pin number and pin layout.

If possible send some pictures.

Judging from the size (16x4) and the pinout, it seems HD44780-compatible. 90% of all text mode LCDs follow this.

http://home.iae.nl/users/pouweha/lcd/lcd.shtml seems like a good resource for controlling this type of LCDs.

all of charachter LCDs are similar to each other, in their read,write and commands.
all of charachter LCDs like 2x16,1x20,4x16,4x20,... have 16 pin's like a lcd that you sent it's picture.
i drived 2x16 lcd later and 4x20 charachter LCD with AVR recently.
maybe their ram address have difference.

I am confirming it's a Hitachi.

This one is by and far the best LCD library for AVR. It is fully customizable. It's from Peter Fleury.
