a/d converter pic

I am using a PIC16F877A , controller in a project where one of the inputs is from a analog system, the single varies according to a the magnetic flux on the coil, that is the output varies from -2.5V to +2.5V, depending on the flied. How do I go about reading this in the pick, the software is written using a stranded input form a supply [-5v to +5v] and using a clamper circuit and than a clipper to protect the controller port from over voltage [if generated ], but when the controller is connected to the actual system the clamper shifts the zero to 2.5v but there is no variation.
is there any other way to read this single, I need the negative single to.
