I couldn't find any info or schematic about attached chip. I need to read its content if it is a programmable chip and make a backup of the content. Also need to make a replacement in case something happened to it. Anyone has any idea where can I find information about it or any replacement chip?

Probably one of these: Intersil IM5200.

yes should be the one. Where did you find this? I searched Intersil site but couldn't find any trace of it. Do you know any replacement for it?

Also I need to know which chip programmer I should use to read its content and make a backup of it?

Still haven't find a programmer and a replacement for IM5200CJG. Any help will be appreciated.

I don't think you will find a direct replacement or a programmer. The data sheet suggests it has to be programmed at the factory, that's why example data entry forms are supplied. For the same reason, it probably isn't possible to read it's contents. It isn't a memory, it's a gate array so it isn't simply a case of reading it like an EPROM, there may be a factory process to read it out for verification but you would have to contact Intersil for that.

Brian.

I would have thought that it would not be impossible to reverse engineer the programmed device. Then you could then simply reproduce the function with a more modern device.

Data sheet says recommended programmer is DATA I/O Model 10. So it should be programmed with a programmer as I understand like an EPROM. Also device could be programmed in the factory because those days programmers were not publicly used as are now. I am not an electronic man that much. I need someone to help me with this as it is very important for me and I am willing to pay all the cost. Perhaps best way is finding this programmer schematic and building it myself. It should be the first generation programmer of DATA I/O and must be a simple programmer. Problem is how to find it. I will post a separate threat see if someone might have it.
