There is an open project at MIT .. that is just two motors , weight and two pieces of rope .They hang vertically .and is gravity that keeps the tension .Is good enough to write on a blackboard
smeting like this :
....... (..) <- motor1.....motor2 ->..(..)
.........\........................................./
............\................................... /
..............\................................/
................\ .......................... /
...................\....................... /
.....................\................... / <--------rope or wire
.......................\............... /
.........................\............/
...........................\......../
..............................(.X.) -< weight with a pen
( the dots are because this pages won't support pure BLANKS spaces)
by controlling the length of each wire with the motors is possible to move in any X Y DIRECTION .. some math is necessary to map to an orthogonal XY space though.
