I just bought a portable mini-frig at a flea market that didn't come with power cords. I need an input: AC/DC adaptor: 9V 3A for home, not car. Radio Shack, Marbeck, Harbor Freight and hardware stores are unableto help. This is a Curtis MIS129 mini-frig for about 6 cans. Where can I find this? I have been all over the internet. . . ?? See attached pics for more info. . .

Julie,
I found myself in the same situation. We moved and lost the power cables for the fridge in the process (they're around - but can't find them).

Today, I figured out how to build one. It was quite easy. Just go to Radio Shack and buy these two things ($16 total):
1) 12 VDC/10 A Car Power Adapter - P/N: 270-049 ($8)
2) 6 foot AC power cord - P/N: 61-210 ($8)

It is important to get exactly the right AC power cord - it has to fit the jack on the fridge. Then, to assemble it, just connect the wires from the Car Adapter to the prongs on the AC power plug. Twist the wires into the plug, and crimp with a pliers. Then plug the car adapter into a 12 volt source and the other end of the AC power cord into the fridge. Don't worry about the polarity; if you get it wrong, the LEDs will just be out of sync (green will light when the switch is in the "heat" position and red when it is in the "cold" position). If that happens, just put it in the other way. Note: At some point, I might get out the soldering iron and solder the wires in place; that doesn't seem necessary, but would make things more secure/permanent.

This gets you a way to run the fridge in your car. You can also get one of those "power up" jump-start batteries (Radio Shack used to sell them for about $40; you can shop online and get one cheap) and power it that way (that's what I do), or, for $30, Radio Shack sells a 110VAC to 12VDC (cigarette lighter) converter. That would work as well.

Anyway, I'm happy with it.

Looking at the picture of the DC socket, i just wonder the said socket is generally used for AC supply as it has no polarity. But how DC can be connected where polarity matters?..Cheers

In fact, the jack (socket) on the device is "pegged" (the peg is on the top side only). The original power cables that came with the device are pegged so that they can only be inserted one way (the correct way).

However, as I noted previously, it really doesn't matter. If you plug it in the wrong way (wrong polarity), it doesn't hurt anything, and it is obvious once you turn it on that it should be the other way.
