I currently doing a simulation on CDMA using matlab. What i am trying to do is to model as much interference into a channel and see whether can i retreive back.
While doing some reading, i bump across something called narrowband and wideband interference. It seems to be quite problematic for frequency hopping and direct spread under certain circumstances. But im not really sure what it is.
Can anyone explain what kind of interference is this? thank you.
Narrow band is usually defined as being narrower than the wanted signal. A single spectral line is one example.
Wideband is usually defined as being wider than the wanted signal. One example would be a direct spread signal interfering with an ordinarily modulated signal.
I would add something, in a narrowband signal the channel is assumed to have a flat response over the frequency bandwidth of operation. This assumption is not true on wideband systems and you need to deal with problems suchs as frequency selectivity.
