hi does anyone know the name of the multicore cables used to connect computer parts its a small flat brown strip with potentialy lots of strips of conductor through them? and does anyone know how to strip it to expose cores to solder onto? thanks

A picture would really help but otherwise would I go for the same answer as SunnySkyguy.

Monitors receive video (picture) signals from a PC via either a VGA (or S-VGA) cable or a DVI cable.
VGA stands for Video Graphics Array

Now I see it... you are thinking of the "Zebra cable" used for solderless connections to flat brown flexcct or Kapton and flex copper etched wiring... (using xtal ball to see your connector)
