I am driving 6 'common anode 7-segments' using my PIC18F452 (using multiplexed technique).

This is working perfectly fine in proteus simulation.

I am driving these directly with the pins of PIC (I have 1 Kilo ohms resistors only on the common anode pins "segment selectors pins").

The problem I am having is that the segments are too dark to be seen in the room light. Can anyone suggest a solution pls.

You need more current and PIC can't provide it.
Use transistors to drive the common pins (or mosfet) and connect the segments through resistors to the pic.
