i have 6 door switches and one counter. i want the counter to count each time a door opens and closes. however the doors open at differnt rates and stay open for different times some times simotaniousely. I have the door switches wired in parelle, just not sure how to tie in the counter

Hi,

With a passive counter how can you differentiate between the doors.

If you are using something more active then you could use resistors to give each door a signature.

If it's not possible to tell one switch from another , you may miss some events.
You won't be able to count reliably without modifying switch connections.
The circuit may be pretty complicated without a uC.
