multipath

i read this sentence "Multipath, when the number of paths exceed the number of receiver fingers" in the following link.
**broken link removed**

can anyone explain in details this sentence.

Re: multipath

Often a microwave engineer finds that holding his finger against a certain part of a circuit can "tune" the circuit's respons to be in-specification. His joy is short lived as he realizes he can only ship a maximum of 10 units that way.

Re: multipath

To avoid multipath propagation (due to multiple reflections) some receiving systems as CDMA or WCDMA use “RAKE” type receivers (more receivers which works in parallel).
Because the number of these receivers is limited, the number of propagation paths could overpass the number (fingers) of the rake receivers.
