Bad news, does anyone know if icd2 is like icd, schematic and program are given by microchip.

MPLAB 6.xx and ICD

Swapp the crystal on the ICD1 from 3.68 mhz to 20mhz upp the baud rate to 115200 and it programs and debugs all devices including the 18xxxx series. The reborn ICD1 now seems as fast or faster than the hockey puck ever was. :D

Hi,
cool news...but can I also use the new mplab?

thanks a lot

BTW: Can you more exactly define whitch devices will work with these modifications? All flash types, which have the "debugging" feature?

Hi Sar,

Don't you have to modify the ICD firmware, not even the Baud Rate divisor register ?
What about the other timing functions, don't they get affected by the crystal change ? :?:

MLAB 6.xx

Yes you need the proper firmware its at the CCS C compiler site:

https://www.ccsinfo.com/download.shtml under ICD software at the bottom of the page.

More information about the debugger is at:

**broken link removed**

Check it out :D

So Sar,

You don't only swap the crystal, you also swap the Development Environment from MPLAB to CCS. You probably also have to swap the compiler. I wonder if Hi-Tech, for instance, is compatible with CCS Development Environment.

As you put it, it seemed very simple. :(
