helo for all this is the first post i am new here
it is about a tig welder wyle working at 160 amps the mosfet died 4 of them nomber 94-2404 it is china with no datasheet i dont know nothing bout it and nothing in the markit i want to replace it with igbt g160n60 it is big but it is what i have all 4 of them do i need to change any thing in the cercuit i dont know the**broken link removed****broken link removed** mosfet n or p

I'd begin by trying to find the schematics, from Google
or perhaps the manufacturer's support pages (if they
are a solid outfit, there should be documentation - I
even got this stuff for my Everlast eBay cheapo combo
(tig / stick / plasma) machine, so anyone up-market
ought to be able to give you service manuals). The
schematic and/or BOM ought to give you the proper
part numbers.

Replacing IGBT with IGBT seems sensible. Replacing
a FET with IGBT, there are many variables to be met
and I'm not so optimistic. You need to know what
you're looking at.

Now 2.6V on the gate seems a bit short to me. You
ought to be considering why the FETs all blew out,
it may not have much to do with the FETs. I have
run across some 'boards where weaknesses of these
inverter type welding machines are discussed, do not
recall the address but do recall vaguely some discussions
about similar issues and that it was "something besides"
that was to blame.
