What does successive approximation mean ?

I know it is a method of converting analogue to digital .

How does it work ?

Does the method differs between the microcontrollers?

Need Internal circuitry for PIC16F877A ADC.

Ananlog to Digital Conversion ADC phase shift

Will there be any phase shift after converting Analogue to Digital ?

How to find it ?

What does the phase change means in ADC?

Is there any single and dual phase change ADCs ?
