Modify Earth fault circuit for LED

Your only chance is to use a flashing LED but I wouldn't like to guarantee it would work. The neon is used as an oscillator and it's current goes from almost zero to maybe 1mA as it flashes, an LED has much lower voltage requirement but also much higher current.

Arrange 5volt zener diode in reverse with a led in series, and a resistor of about 100k in series toward the neutral link. it might not flash but stay on to indicate. Although, I have not tested it but I have use the circuit idea on ac circuit with led.
