mobile for serial communication

I want to build a project ' Home Automation through SMS'...so for that I want to communicate a mobile handset with mc...so anyone here could please tell me which hanset should i use..plz tell me the one of whose components/cables are easily available in the market???

For myself, I made the same project 3 years ago using Nokia 6610i that supports SMS in text mode and the cable interface is serial. So, you can connect it directly to your controller.

Sony Ericsson R520, R310, R320, T28, T39, T68, T68i, R600, T610, T310

i suggest you go for modules instead of mobile as they are as cheap as 2500.. Phones below 3K wont support these features

I agree with ckShivaram, using a GSM module is better than a cell phone since the GSM module are quite small and, can be integrated in a small casing in your final product.
