When guard ring a layout, if there are digital and analog circuits together, do I always have to guard them separately?

Or can I put the digital and analog circuits together and put the entire guard ring outside?

In the latter case, I would put a double guard ring around it.

You don't have to guard them separately, but it is strongly recommended.
When you combine analog and digital devices, you reduce the noise immunity of the circuit through the substrate/well. What is the purpose of the double guard ring and what do you mean by saying that?
