Hi,

Our research group will change infrastructure in order to use Cadence and Synopsys tools with Linux Redhat Enterprise. We want to build a LAN for this.

For such infrastructure what do we need beside the workstations. (License server or sth else).

I need any suggestions (especially detailed suggestions) on this.

Description of your lab infrastructure is welcomed.

Thanx in advance...

+firstcheck with Cadence what version of Linux is required ( imean kernel version)

+have the server with maximum memory possible ( need not have the graphics card as best in server)

+have two Lan Cards in server (one for clients and one for outgoing / for other internal communication)

+Let the LAN Card on server be NOT an ordinary one. Have a good comapny
1/10Gb card

+ +Have a Lan Switch of Highest speed.

+ Have the clients with best graphics cards .

+Since everything is Linux , check whether the motherboards of the systems
have Linux drivers for the Redhat version ,, for the chipset in MB. Otherwise you may not be able to use the full power of the board.

+do not go for wireless LAN.

hope i have given whatever is reqd minimum.

you can change confgs in paper many times before purchase.
once purchased changing will be a costlier affair.
