Hi,
I just had a Teams interview on my laptop and my sound was not working.
As such, I couldn't hear them speak, and they couldn't hear me speak.
My microphone was not muted. My audio volume setting was turned up.

(I ended up phoning them up and using the phone to speak/listen)

The video bit of Teams was working.

I had 5 Teams interviews on this same laptop last week and the sound was fine.

After the interview I checked my speakers and microphone and they are working fine.
As such, why do they not work when i am on a Teams Call?
How can I check that my microphone and speaker both work on Teams?

I checked my microphone works by going to voicerecorder.org and recorded my voice then played it back
and it showed my microphone was working fine. I also played music on youtube which proved that my
speakers are fine.

So why did my speakers and microphone not work when I was on the Teams call?

I am using windows 11 home.
Laptop is Huawei Matebook D.

Is there a "self check" for Teams so that i can check my Speaker/microphone is working whilst i am in the "waiting area" for the Teams call?

On some conferencing apps there is a "chooser" for audio resources and my machines show several that are no good.
You may have to turn over some rocks in the GUI to find and try out

Thanks, thats interesting as there is only one choice of speaker and microphone and that was what was selected.
Right after the "failed sound" interview, i set up another teams call with a friend and that worked fine.

This has happened before...when i have a teams call thats an interview, the computer sometimes blacks out just before the interview, and has often failed on sound during/at the start of, a job interview.
...But worked perfectly in a following call to a friend.

I am thinking that some rival recruitment consultancy (rival to the one with which i arranged whichever interview) has somehow hacked in to my laptop and managed to screw the teams call.
I think i will have to regularly change password on email account, as thats where they would be seeing the interview times arranged.
If you ask a computer forum about this kind of thing they ban you...presumably because they dont like suggestion of such shenanigans actually happening.
It just seems strange that this happens only when its an interview, and never on the multiple other teams calls that i do.
