Hi,

A design I am working on needs small conductive hemispheres soldered on. Is there any distributor that can provide such a thing? In general, how are mechanical parts such as this designed for PCB and where are they manufactured?

Thanks.

Not quite what I need. If I understand correctly, flip-chips are meant for soldering. What I need is hemispheres of conductive material. The figure below shows approximately what is needed.

Any conductive material will do, but preferable silver or gold-plated. Dimensions are: hemisphere radius- 1mm, solder pads 2x0.5mm.

The only options I have some experience of are bumping, but that may be too large for normal wafer bumping processes. You could try unisem **broken link removed**

They can do non-solder bumps.

Keith.
