Measuring Changes in Static Electricity

Is there any instrument that can measure the changes in Static electricity in a room? And is there one for measuring the changes in the magnetic field too?
What is called? Is it possible to make my own instrument? If yes, can someone please tell me how to make it in the simplest way possible?

And, yes i know about the Pith Ball experiment... I was wondering if there is any other apparatus...

They have electrostatic volt meters, charge plate monitors, and similar equipment for electrostatic measurement and control.

I did a Google search using "electrostatic measurement equipment" terms and got many hits. This is how I found the above company. Try it...
