Hi there,

What is the maximum charging current of those big lead acid battery rated at 12V/180AH used in invertors? I’ve one such battery with no such specifications written on it!

Thanks

Try the manufacturer's web page. In general, gel electrolyte batteries are best charged with a constant 13.8 V source (for 12 V batteries) with the current limiting at a fraction of the amp-hour rating. This keeps the heating down which will let the battery last longer.

Normally will charge at 1/10 of the Batt. capacity. In this case is 18A and if it's a sealed type the full-charged voltage should not exceed 13.8V

Check this table:

It looks like for 180Ah battery you can go as high as 0.8 of its capacity, what is ≈150A, but If I were you I wouldn't try it on my battery ..

Sure, IanP I'm also not going to try it on my battery! I looks good when it is working, let it be there for some more days :-;
