So I'm about to use the MAX3232 for a 3.3V TTL-to-serial interface.
I would like a clarification on its operation: Does the Vcc have to be 3.3V for the MAX3232 TTLout (or Tout) to become 3.3V as well? Or does it automatically convert serial to 3.3V TTL if the signal from the other device is 3.3V TTL?...
I'm sorry if it's confusing.. hahaha! Hmm.. Basically, the question is, how do you set the output TTLs to be 3.3V?
MAX3232 TTL signal level depends on power supply voltage.
If power supply is 3.3V, logic output signals will be 0 - 3.3V. This is compatible with 5V logic families that accept 3.3V logic levels.
If power supply is 5V, logic output signals will be 0 - 5V.
It seems to accept 5V logic inputs when Vcc=3.3V, but I think that it isn't the best working state.
