are you trying it out with discrete components or Hspice, Pspice models and other things...........
I got one circuit with transistors & ic's. Then single IC circuit like above can also be used provided the IC is available. Hence was looking for some options from fellow members.
it is relevant to ur doubt and its discussion has been centred on the dynamic range so it would aid u to understand better........... i think this would clarify your doubt........

This r commercial units & r available in min 2 ghz. I can make detector & hence simple log amplifier can also do the job as mentioned with the above IC.
