magnetic flux rectangular loop

Hi folks,

Does anyone have any links or resources where I can view the formula for calculating the inductance of a single turn rectangular conductor loop and the method for deriving it?

Any advice is appreciated :)

a single turn rectangular loop

L = 0.394*(r^2)*(N^2) / ( 9*r + 10*length )

where:
L = inductance in uH
r = coil radius in centimetres
N = number of turns
length = length of the coil in centimetres

Re: Inductance of a single turn rectangular loop

May i ask where that equation is from?

Hi:

You can get the equation of the dc self inductance from Radio Frequency Integrated Circuit Design, by John Rogers and Calvin Plett. Hope this helps

Re: Inductance of a single turn rectangular loop

Thanks for the responses :)

From what I can see, all of those equations are for circular loops, not for rectangular structures.

If I have a conducting loop that is 40cm by 20cm, built with copper tubing (15mm diameter) where do I start when I want to derive a formula for the magnetic flux density B or magnetic field strength H.

These will heavily affect the result of the inductance for the structure surely.

I'm lost :(
