I need to implement an ethernet 10/100 switch on a backplane. One of my main constraints is the component height 3mm. I need at least an unmanaged switch (or one with RTBI or RGMII or SMII) with 6 ports. Does anyone knows some component fitting?

Check out:

**broken link removed**

It's a managed 10/100 switch with 8 ports and some pretty impressive features.

On the next to the last page of the data sheet it lists the dimensions for the 208-pin LBGA as 17x17x1.4mm

MARVELL&BroadCom's Chip is better.

Some Taiwan's companys can provide cheaper solution, if you only need small port count.

Re: Ethernet switch

Broadcom 5328 and 5338 are rather popular and design easily. The two chips also integrate the PHY.
