( this component is still avalaible but in very large quantity ).

It may not help a lot, but Digikey (w*w.digikey.com) in the US sells in small quatities. They have the part you are looking for.

The downside is they have a $6.00US surcharge for international orders, and they surcharge an additional $5.00US if the total order is under $25US.

Maybe you could put together a joint order with others to make it worthwhile ordering from them.
