Looking for compiler with tutorial for programming in C

can anyone help me up till now if been programing in assembler but it takes far too long i wana start programming in c but need a compiler and some information on how to use and program with it

What is your host and target? In other words, what computer operating system are you using, and on what type processor do you want to run your code?

To learn C, read some book reviews and then go to the bookstore and pick a book that suits your learning style.

im using windows xp pro and its for programming the pic 16f84 i have programmed in c before but not to a pic

If you use PICs i recommend two compiles

CCS C or Hitech PICC compiler

You will find a lot examples using these compilers in the net

what about IAR for PIC?
Is it a good compiler?, I can't find any sample programs with the eval version and the documentation is so poor from my point of view

if you want to write codes in c ,just follow let us c by yeshwanth kanethkar which is simple to learn.
there is one more book called ansi c by balaguruswamy. just learn the basics and try to convert the logic from assembly level language to c.

the best software you may use it is Keil which you programm in C and then convert it to the assembly of the controller you need.
The attatched help of the software is good and you may use it along with DAVE software to extend your potential
