It depends what kind of sensors you are implementing with your design.
IR-RFID-Video-...?? then it is easy to provide some stuff.

Motion sensor

i have used a PIR sensor for the motion detection and it worked very good , the only difficulty i faced was the installation of the PIR sensore as the slight motion due to the wind made the sensor to allarm , it was of the

16V is sufficient for the corresponding circuit. (Vcc range 5~12)
