Hi all,
I would like to know which version of linux is compatible with intel
core du CPU?
Thanks,

I don't think that's a good idea use intel dual core cpu.of course, you can use redhat enterprise 3 update 7 for most eda tools.

what's wrong with linux and dual core processors?

I'm using FC5 x64_86 on AMD dual core Opteron. So I guess it should work on Intel Core Duo as well.

Opteron dual core is the best chose for EDA on linux platform.

soway,
what do you mean best? what things opteron has that intel core duo doesnt have?

opteron dual core not fast CPU ..

K8 is fast than P4 ..
but Intel new CPU coreDuo have improve performance
from superPie calculate

coron 2.4G = opteron / am2 64 2.8GHz

I hope amd can improve K8 performance

All the eda vendor provide tools for opteron, and opteron support true 64bit,this will provide you more memory capability.

I had tested, opteron dual core almost provide 190% performance than single core with same frequency.Opteron 270(2.0G dual core)will 35% faster than XEON 2.8G when do DC job.

Maybe Core2Duo provide better performance than Opteron, but Opteron is the best choice in current environment.

You can use the newest SUSE linux with Intel core dual CPU.
