Linux debian in ARM processor

Hello there, i wanna ask something about linux. I have an ARM processor which run in linux debian platform to work with a device called fingerprint UART [https://www.cytron.com.my/viewProduct.php?pcode=SN-FPR-UART&name=Fingerprint Reader (UART)]. I required to send command from the ARM to the device to run all operation inside of it, so in your opinion what is the best software i should use? i'm thinking of using matlab but i'm still confuse.

In my view ( ofcourse personal) Use C/C++ and write your own App. to read from the device.

You may also try some scripting language, for example Python instead of C/C++. Debian ARM supports many scripting languages.
