Hello,

I have a linear temperature to frequency converter. I plotted the output frequency versus the temperature.
I have confusion on the simulation of the output accuracy and the linearity.

Before I give you my procedure, is it possible to simulate the accuracy or it is only a real measurement quantity?

Here is my procedure for calculating the accuracy

1. I take the average sensitivity of the sensor output (S=average(df/dt))
2. I plot an ideal straight line (f= f0+S.T), where fo is the sensor output frequency at zero °C
3. I subtract the actual sensor output from the linear line
4. Accuracy error (in °C)= subtraction result/S

For the linearity calculation I used to import the result to Matlab and
1. Plotting the best fit line from the output signal
2. Subtract the both signals
3. linearity (%)= (subtraction result / (fmax-fmin))*100%

Thank you for your help
Best Regards

You can sim if the spice models are complete enough to include
design non linearities. Generally for that level design you contact
the manufacturer and ask that question about model suitability.

Note many manufacturers limit completeness of spice models to
protect IP. So tread carefully.

Measurement is, in the end if done properly, the best method. Thats
how many analog parameters are determined for datasheets. Over
several process runs and devices from each run. Its called, in the business,
process characterization of the part.

Regards, Dana.
