Legal issues concerning hardware customization

Hi i don't know were to ask this so i figured this is the best site for this:

pretend i have 5 random pieaces of hardware and i could make something new with them i take them apart and mix them toghether and create a new object can i claim it as my own and sell it? or do i need all the leagal contracs for each pieces from the companies?

ps: the hardware would be all taken apart they wont be detactable.
sorry if its unclear just reply if you know about rights and stuff
