Hi,

I want to implement the led indication for the Transmission and reception in RS 485 communication using Max487.
Also i want to isolate max487 from the controller.

Can anybody please tell whether this attached design is good?
If i can do any change so that the design will be much better, please give your suggestion.

I am too much concerned about the resistor values. Is these value are perfect?

Also i put the led in max487 side, is it ok? or shall i put it in controller side?

Any valuable comments please?

Hi,

i dind´t read the datasheets, but from a first fiew the resistor values seem to be OK.
In detail it depends on transfer rate and how much skew you can tolerate.

Regarding the LED i recommend to use an extra driver with a short turn_off_delay (20..100ms) to easily detect a single byte transfer (maybe below 1ms)

Your ZD6 may continously draw current and thus dissipate power
