LAZER DIODE

Hi friends
im doing a heart beat sensor project, the circuit contain high intensity RED LED and
LDR for detecting heart beat. by putting finger in between led and ldr we will get heart beat. For getting better out put can i use low power lazer diode instead of high intensity LED? is it harmfull?

LAZER DIODE

If you don't manage with a high intensity LED, give it up. Laser diode won't allow for higher intensity within the safety limits.
The adavantages of a laser diode doesn't pay in this application.

Re: LAZER DIODE

If I remember correctly, you will get a better S/N ratio using a yellow led...

Re: LAZER DIODE

Hi

I dont know if laser wouldn't classify for such an application. I guess as long as it is in quite closed case, low class laser like 1 and we put our finger inside, not the eye(!); there shouldnt be any problem. Maybe I am thinking wrong.

The cost/performance is something else. I also think imporvement is not going to be so high compared to price difference.

maybe below link can be interesting. It is an application with high intensity RED LED.

Hope helps.
