kinds of power distribution in power rings, rails and mesh

regarding power planning

Hi,

I'm new to Physical Design. I have been working in DFT for a quite period.
I wanted to details of power planning.

To get to more detail we have three type of power distribution

1. Power rings
2. Power rails
3. Power mesh.

I want to know which kind of power distribution is used when and where?
I f you have any documents or text books regarding above topic please let me know!
