K8 CPU have bug ..

from this news ..it said K8 CPU have bug on REP/MOVS instruction ..
Have anyone know it ? becuase I will build a K8 server for linux ..

it is true or not ?

上個星期AMD的K8處理器被發現在使用REP、MOVS指令時會產生嚴重錯誤。而今日AMD正式向外界證實事件，據AMD指這個並不是什么大Bug，而且只會在非常偶然的情況下才會出現，並且AMD在內部測試時一早得知問題存在，而AMD更表示只會使用REP、MOVS指令時才有機會發生問題，並且能以BIOS更新解決問題。

i really doubt that this is just a speculation from the Intel Vs AMD wars. with that said i dont mean that the K8 cant have a bug. if this has been identified by the AMD engineers, they will eliminate it in the next revision of the processor. u should ask AMD about this.

I hope K8 is ok .. but in IC design . chip have bug is usually ..
like P4 or Xeon also have bug .. if K8's bug can be remove by
"BIOS" .. I think it will ok ..

but I don't know this news is true or rumor ..
