Is there any general rule on photonic bandgap design???

photonic bandgap

yes, I feel the topic on photonic crystal simulation is too few. that's a regret!

Re: photonic bandgap

Translight software (freeware) from the university of glasgow might be able to help initially. It has templates for certain pbg structures so that can be a good starting point.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Re: photonic bandgap

Hi yingyang

for you. the name "PBG" it's for light freq.
and "EBG" for Rf freq. so if you working in Rf look for "EBG" also

Re: photonic bandgap

Hi,

Does anyone have an idea how to get Transligth. It seems that Andrew L. Reynolds homepage no longer exists in Glasgow University server.

Thanks,
Markus

Re: photonic bandgap

I am working on both....ebg & pbg & meta material....

i know of mit web site has some pbg software but is on linux...

Re: photonic bandgap

I think that Defected Ground Structure(DGS) is better,it is very simple!!

Re: photonic bandgap

To my knowledge, there are no simple design rules for photonic crystals, except that it is not simple to design, and even more difficult to fabricate. Photonic crystals are a 3D extension of the better known distributed Bragg reflectors. So the crystals need a periodic structure, to reflect light. However, it is not simple to make a structure that reflects light for all possible incidence directions and wavelengths.

A good open-source tool for 2D photonics crytals (and maybe even 3D, I haven't checked the latest version) is at http://camfr.sourceforge.net/

good luck with it.

Re: photonic bandgap

To everybody ho interesting in FDTD for photonic simulation.
You can download 3-D FDTD with pml and MPI by followin link:

Re: photonic bandgap

The MIT Photonic bands package (MPB)- see **broken link removed** is on unix, but it can be installed on windows too (i did it, using cygwin).
This program is useful for gettintg the band diagram of an arbitrary photonic crystal.

Re: photonic bandgap

I'm working on design and fabrication of photonic crystal slabs.
If anyone here is interseted, I can upload some Femlab models and MPB scripts.

regards,

photonic bandgap

Hi,baluba, I am interested in the Femlab models of photonic crystals. Thank you in advance.

Re: photonic bandgap

Hi,baluba, Can you send me your Femlab files for photonic crystals?

photonic bandgap

Hi,baluba, do you have the Femlab models for 2D metallic photonic crystals?

Hello baluba,

still working on photonic crystal slabs?

Best regards

Re: photonic bandgap

Hi, could you please also send me the FEMLAB and MPB scripts for the PBG device simulation? Thanks very much.
