Is there a case where non-linear devices has to be designed by full-wave analysis?

I know this question might be way too broad to ask, but I am really curious when people design systems with non-linear devices. Do they normally consider the EM effects? If yes, then how can they typically analyze the EM effects from non-linear devices? Can any one give me a example that falls into such situation?
