I am having a problem with load lines, and operating points. Is the operating point the load line, or is it a point on the load line??
The problem is attached as a file.

Re: load lines??

The operating point is on the load line. Draw the curve for the current source and resistor and the intersection of the two curves is the operating point.

Re: load lines??

The load line is an intersection of the active device output curve and the circuit output loop.

Re: load lines??

goobe,
The Thevenin equivalent circuit is 20V (5mA X 4K) in series with 4K. The open circuit voltage is 20V, the short circuit current is 5 mA.
Draw a straight line between (20,0 ) and (0,5). The operating point is where the two lines intersect (4V, 4mA).
Regards,
Kral
