Is RS232 based bus possible?

Greetings everybody!
I was trying to make a bus with one master and 30 slaves using RS485. The project is almost ready.
But here onething question is unclear still, can we make the same bus by RS232?

No it is not possible in RS232. Bus collision occur. U required additional hardware .

hello,

RS232 current loop is possible to link many PLC on same bus with Jbus (like Modbus) ... on SMC600 (APRIL) PLC
but old technologie ,still used in industrie..
before next rewanping ! and use Profibus, or Ethernet or ...

on old PLC with RS232 Modbus protocole, to avoid to exchange material and Software developpement ( money problem !)
we can use a gateway module RS232 / Ethernet IP modbus... example: Moxa gateway.
