Does anyone use Red Hat Enterprise Advanced server 3? Is it compatible with EDA tools?

Re: Is Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS3 compatible with EDA tool

I have not tested it yet but Mentor and Synplicity say so!

Yes, It's

Re: Is Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS3 compatible with EDA tool

I think it may depends on the version of the EDA tools . I can run some old eda tools on Red Hat 8.0, but fail on AS3. After upgraded to the latest versions, i can use some of them successfully.

Re: Is Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS3 compatible with EDA tool

You can try to use it. I think the key point is the core version. However, maybe you need to do many detail things.

Mentor,Cadence,Synopsys should be ok.

But some important tools may not work,
such as specman elite.

synopsys latest version of tools is running fine in Enterprise Redhat

If some old version of EDA Tools were compiled with old Intel compiler (such as the Intel 7.1 compiler build 20030814 or earlier), It need to code a simple library, or it will turn out "symbol _dl_loaded, not defined with link time reference". For example, Specman elite4.0.1.

Many tools may indeed also run on non AS versions like Fedora etc.
I have gotten away many times with simply modifying /etc/redhat-release to that of a Advanced Server. Of course then you cannot expect support :)

for synopsys cadence magma novas verisity almost all can be installed and work properly.

Many EDA vendor will support rh_as for their next generation tools.

I think most of the EDA tools run fine on RHEL 3.
Synopsys do mentioned in their official web site that, all the newer version of their tools will support RHEL 3.

RHEL 3 is the best platform for EDA tool, I think.

Both Cadence and Synopsys will support RHEL3
